Policies and Procedures

Registration

A completed registration packet, signed liability waiver, emergency contact information, and payment method on file are required prior to participation in lessons. A yearly $15 Splash Fee (registration and insurance) will be charged for each swimmer.

Payment Policy

• Lesson fees are due at the time of booking.
• Cash, Zelle, and Venmo are accepted forms of payment.
• Payment is collected when lessons are scheduled.
• Returned payments are subject to a $50.00 fee.
• Swim NODAK reserves the right to suspend lessons for unpaid balances.

Lesson Rates

• 20-Minute Private Lesson: $30.00
• 30-Minute Private Lesson: $45.00

Rates and policies are subject to change with a minimum of 30 days’ written notice.

Referral Program

Refer a new family to Swim NODAK and receive a $25 account credit when the referred family completes their first paid lesson.

Arrival & Departure

• Please arrive no more than ten (10) minutes before your scheduled lesson.
• Lessons begin and end promptly according to the atomic clock located on the pool deck.
• Families are expected to depart promptly following their lesson.
• If you have questions about your student’s progress or a question for your instructor please speak with the Site Manager before, during or after your lesson.
• Swim NODAK is not responsible for children before or after scheduled lesson times.

Parking

Please park in any of the four designated parking spaces located in front of the garage doors or the front window.

For the safety and convenience of all Swim NODAK families:

• Do not block the pull-through driveway.
• Do not block sidewalks, mailboxes, neighboring properties, or emergency access routes.
• Per City of Grand Forks regulations, street parking is permitted only on the west side of Belmont Road. Please note that street parking is prohibited on Monday due to street sweeping.

Swim NODAK makes every effort to keep walkways and parking areas clear and safe, however, we live in North Dakota, and weather conditions can change quickly. Snow, ice, and slippery surfaces may occasionally be present despite our best efforts. Families are encouraged to use caution when walking to and from the school entrance and to wear appropriate footwear during the winter months.

Please be respectful of our neighbors by keeping noise to a minimum when arriving and departing.

Parent Supervision

For the safety of all participants:

• A parent or responsible adult must remain on-site during lessons for all swimmers under 18 years of age.
• Children may not be dropped off or left unattended.
• Parents are encouraged to observe lessons from the designated seating area on the pool deck.

Swim Attire

Students must wear:

• Appropriate swimwear.
• Long hair secured away from the face whenever possible, or wear a swim cap.
• Goggles are optional; Swim NODAK prefers to teach beginners without goggles.
• Not equipped to teach non-toilet trained children.

Disposable swim diapers are not permitted in the pool.

Please bring:

• Towel
• Water bottle
• Shampoo
• Change of clothes

Showering

A quick rinse of body and hair before entering the pool is appreciated and helps maintain excellent water quality.

Following each lesson, a quick body rinse and shampoo are available. Swimsuits must remain on at all times while using the facility.

Please do not change clothes in the restroom. Private changing rooms are provided for your convenience. We ask that you help keep the restroom available for families and staff who need to use the facilities.

Weather Policy

Because Swim NODAK operates in an indoor facility, lessons generally continue during rain, snow, and cold weather.

Lessons may be canceled due to:

• Blizzard warnings
• Hazardous road conditions
• Power outages
• Mechanical issues affecting pool operation

Families will be notified as soon as possible and will receive make-up lesson credit for any lesson cancelled by Swim NODAK.

Absences & Makeup Lessons

We understand that schedules change and unexpected situations occur. We are only able to offer make-up credits for cancellations due to illness. The ability to make-up a missed lesson is otherwise the discretion of Swim NODAK.

Illness Policy

We understand that illnesses happen unexpectedly and often without notice. We appreciate your help in keeping our swimmers and instructors healthy.

Please do not bring your child to swim if they have:

• A fever within the previous 24 hours
• Vomiting or diarrhea within the previous 24 hours
• A contagious illness or infection
• Any condition that could compromise the health and safety of others

If your swimmer wakes up ill on the day of their lesson, please notify Swim NODAK by 9:00 a.m. via email. When notification is received by 9:00 a.m., your lesson will be automatically rescheduled, and no lesson fee will be forfeited.

Families who notify Swim NODAK after 9:00 a.m. or fail to notify us may forfeit that lesson at Swim NODAK’s discretion.

Makeup Lessons

• Makeup lessons must be scheduled within 90 days of the missed lesson.
• Makeup lessons are subject to instructor availability.
• Makeup lesson credits have no cash value and may not be transferred.

Instructor Cancellations

If Swim NODAK cancels a lesson for any reason, families may select either:

• A makeup lesson, or
• A credit toward a future lesson.

Facility Rules

For the safety and comfort of all guests:

• No running on the pool deck or facility grounds.
• No diving unless specifically directed by the instructor.
• No food, gum, glass containers, or beverages other than water are permitted inside the swim school.
• Follow instructor directions at all times.
• Respect all facility equipment and property.

Private Residence Facility Policy

Swim NODAK operates from a privately owned residential indoor pool facility designed exclusively for one-on-one swim instruction.

To ensure the safety, privacy, and comfort of all families:

• Lessons are available by appointment only.
• The facility is not open for recreational swimming, open swim, parties, or events.
• Access is limited to scheduled swimmers and their accompanying parent or guardian.
• Clients are asked to remain in designated areas of the facility.
• Only swimmers participating in a scheduled lesson may enter the pool unless otherwise directed by the instructor.
• Children not participating in lessons must remain under the direct supervision of their parent or guardian at all times.
• Trial lessons are available to new families but must be scheduled in advance by appointment.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for every family.

Photography & Video

Swim NODAK may occasionally photograph or record lessons for instructional, training, marketing, or promotional purposes.

If you do not wish your swimmer’s image to be used, please notify Swim NODAK in writing before your lesson.

Parents and guardians may photograph or record only their own child and must respect the privacy of other participants.

Liability & Safety

All participants must have a completed liability waiver on file before participating in lessons.

Swimming and aquatic activities involve inherent risks. By participating in Swim NODAK programs, clients acknowledge these risks and agree to follow all safety instructions provided by Swim NODAK staff.

Cancellation of Enrollment

Families may discontinue lessons at any time.

For recurring lesson schedules, a minimum of two (2) weeks’ notice is appreciated to allow scheduling opportunities for waitlisted families.

Swim NODAK Reserves the Right To

• Refuse service for unsafe, disruptive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior.
• Modify policies and procedures as necessary.
• Adjust lesson schedules due to operational needs.
• Suspend participation for non-payment or repeated policy violations.
• Swim NODAK reserves the right to make policy changes with a 30-day written notice to customers.
